Alex Frolov Out For The Season

A bit of breaking news on the injury front for the Rangers once again, this time more serious than the rest.

Alex Frolov has suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, and is possibly done for the season.

Frolov suffered the injury during the game against St. Louis on Saturday.

While this is a horrible injury that I would not wish on anyone, it may have an underlying golden lining. Frolov had a one year contract with the Rangers, and it seemed earlier on in the season that he would not be returning. Frolov managed to tally seven goal and nine assists for a total of 16 points for the Rangers. While that is substantial, it was not enough for the Rangers.

The Rangers signed Frolov to try and help the scoring depth of the team. While in the meantime, hes been surpassed by Brandon Dubinsky, Brian Boyle, and Marian Gaborik who missed a quarter of the first half of the season.

It has become apparent that Frolov is not a part of the Rangers' future. Now, this give the Rangers some room for the cap hit, as well as a lineup spot for Mats Zuccarello, who has played outstanding for the Rangers so far.

I wish Alex a speedy and full recovery, and wish him luck with signing another contract later in his career.
