The Top 10 Rangers Games of the 2010-2011 Season: Part 2

#6: March 6, 2011 (Rangers 7 - Flyers 0)

After having lost to the Flyers on all four of their previous meeting this season, the Rangers needed a shakeup if they wanted confidence in their division. The Rangers decided to shake it up, and wear their away jerseys at home, and perhaps that was just the shake-up they needed. 51- seconds into the game, the man many people regarded as the captain of the Rangers while Chris Drury sat with injuries, Ryan Callahan, got a fortunate bounce of his skates that found its way in. Later on in the period, Callahan sniped the puck over the head of Brian Boucher from a terrible angle to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead. Mats Zuccarello potted one in the 2nd, and the Ryan Callahan again took advantage of a turnover and potted another to give him his first career hat-trick. But he wasn't done there, and the Rangers refused to relinquish pressure and managed to deflect a puck into the net cleanly off of his skates. Artem Anisimov managed to get one of his own, and Zuccarello got another one in the closing minutes of the game to really stake their claim as a force to be reckoned with.

Also, Brandon Dubinsky and Mike Richards added a new chapter to their brawling history in this game. It was awesome.

#5: December 12, 2010 (Rangers 7 - Capitals 0)

After a very disappointing loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets just 24-hours earlier, the Rangers were laced up once again to take on a familiar foe in the Washington Capitals. The Rangers needed a rebound, and that's just what they got as the floodgates opened when Brandon Prust snuck one by Semyon Varlamov in the closing minutes of the 1st. The Rangers would never relinquish that lead as they took advantage of so many odd-man rushes and bad changes by the Capitals. Prust, Anisimov, Staal, Gaborik, and Dubinsky all had goals, and Ryan Callahan had two to give the Rangers a massive lead. This game wasn't just so remarkable for the score, it also featured one of the games most talented stars Alex Ovechkin try and take matters into his own hands by dropping the gloves with Dubinsky which could have qualified for a pay-per-view event considering its star-status. Not only was it remarkable to watch, the beauty of it came when HBO's 24/7 series replayed the game, and us Rangers fans got to watch the madness all over again in hi-def, behind-the-scenes glory everyone should get the chance to see.

#4: April 17, 2011 (Rangers 3 - Capitals 2)

While this was the only playoff victory for the Rangers this season, it was an absolute thriller on Garden ice. The Rangers were down 2-0 in the series, as they returned to Garden ice for a drama-filled spectacle that pleased the fans entirely. The scoring began in the 2nd period when Erik Christensen took a bad angle shot that managed to find its way through to give the Rangers the lead. The Caps tied it in the final minutes of the 2nd, and the Rangers made one more push to get another goal at the end, but fell just and instant short of time in the period. No matter, for Vinny Prospal found a loose puck in front of the net to give the Rangers the lead, which would eventually be tied up again by Mike Knuble of the Capitals. In the final two minutes, the Rangers refused to give up pressure on the puck, and Brandon Dubinsky, who's marvelous display of facial hair channeled some good energy as he got a lucky bounce with a minute-and-a-half remaining in the period. This would be the final won of the season for the Rangers, but it was a genuine thriller that came up with a well-deserved victory at the end.
