11/29/11 Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Comin' to you live from the middle of the rainy epicenter of the universe.

Rangers against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It seems fitting that the Rangers are playing the Penguins today after playing two conference rivals in the Flyers and Capitals, and now have yet another huge task in front of them tonight with the best team in the league at the moment. The Rangers shut down every possible hole they had against the Flyers as they won the game by shutting them out 2-0. Henrik Lundqvist was sharp against the best offensive team in the league, and will more than likely get the start once again tonight. Now that the Rangers are home, where they have performed very well so far this season, it's time once again to get back to the work they know how to do against another mammoth competitor tonight.

The Penguins, who recently just got their star-studded centerpiece back with Sidney Crosby, have been lighting it up like they have been for the past while it seems. And with Crosby back, they're only better, no matter how much I dislike that fact. Yeah, I guess I'll lay down the law on how I feel about Crosby now. Is he possibly the best player in the league? Yes, if not, top three. Is he good for the sport of hockey? Without a doubt. Do I actually like him? Absolutely not. Crosby irks me in a special way, because never have I been irked by an athlete for so many variables before. Yes, he is good, and good for the sport, but the division rivalry, the Olympics, the doofus puberty mustache, and the sole fact that he's that good, and doesn't play for my team upsets me. But what can I say, he's bad? That'd be lying, and a liar is something I am not.

The Diagnosis

The Rangers and Penguins are two different teams with two complete different ways to win. The Rangers are the grinding team that works and works for every possession, shot, and goal, and the Penguins are more of a finesse team. If the Rangers can come out, and Brad Richards can play like he has been, they can beat the Penguins tonight in the Garden. Like the Flyers, they're good, but they're not invincible.

The Prediction

Penguins win 3-2 in overtime.

Brandon Dubinsky will get the initial goal for the Rangers early in the 1st.
Kris Letang will get the first Penguins goal also in the 1st.
Brad Richards will get the lone goal of the 2nd.
Evgeni Malkin will get the tying goal in the 3rd.
And Malkin will get the game winner, coming in overtime.

Enjoy the game!
